Practice fit
Pre-retirees and retirees with about a million dollars or more in investable assets, who have decided not to manage the money themselves. About three quarters of our households are in Southern California; a meaningful share are on the East Coast. We also work with the adult children of existing clients, in their twenties and thirties, without account minimums.
A first call, either by phone or Teams video call. There is no pitch. We are listening for whether the kind of work we do matches what you are looking for. If it does not, we will say so. If it does, the next step is usually lunch.
About a million dollars in investable assets for new household relationships. The minimum does not apply to adult children of existing clients; we work with them at any stage and on any portfolio size. The practice is intentionally capacity-capped at about a hundred households, which is the more meaningful constraint than the dollar figure.
Our fees are charged as a percentage of the assets we manage on your behalf, billed monthly. The exact rate depends on the size of the relationship; we walk through it in plain numbers in the first conversation. We do not earn commissions on investment products in the discretionary advisory accounts.
Family, retirement, and legacy. Almost every conversation we have with a client returns to one of these three. The practice is named after them because they are why the work exists. The single word “point” also fits where the office sits; the practice is in Dana Point.
Advisory accounts are not designed for excessively traded or inactive accounts and are not appropriate for all investors. Please carefully review the advisory disclosure document and discuss with your advisor what may be appropriate for you.
&Partners and Fidelity
&Partners is our broker-dealer and registered investment adviser, the platform through which we offer securities and advisory services. They are advisor-owned, intentionally capped at roughly a hundred and fifty advisor teams, and built around a concierge support model with no call centers. Custody of your assets is held by National Financial Services LLC, a Fidelity company, one of the industry’s most established custodians. We chose &Partners because the way they work matches the way we already worked, independent practices, no product quotas, clients first.
Securities and investment advisory services offered through &Partners, LLC, member FINRA and SIPC.
At National Financial Services LLC, a Fidelity company, our custodian. NFS is one of the industry’s most established custodians; your statements, online access, and tax documents come from them. Our practice manages the work and answers the phone; the assets sit with the custodian.*
*Fidelity Investments (Fidelity) through its broker-dealer National Financial Services LLC (NFS) is our primary custodian where your assets are held for safekeeping.
Income, taxes, and the long plan
We build a long-range projection in financial planning software, in the same room with you, using your actual numbers. You will see what is possible at different retirement dates and different spending levels, and you will understand why before you leave the meeting. Most clients walk in with a version of that question. Most walk out with a clearer answer than they expected.
We structure a monthly paycheck out of the right accounts in the right order, built to keep the tax bill manageable and the cash flow steady. We can adjust it as life changes. The objective is a deposit you can plan around, not a quarterly puzzle.
Yes. Account-type diversification across taxable, traditional, and Roth accounts is part of nearly every plan. We model Roth conversions in the years when the brackets cooperate, and we work the tax-free versus taxable bond decision one client at a time. California-specific tax strategy comes up a lot.
Neither Three Points Wealth Planners nor &Partners renders legal or tax advice. Please consult your tax or legal advisors before taking any action that may have tax consequences.
Estate, family, and geography
Our Client Relationship Manager leads the practice’s estate-settlement work, including assets not held with us. She is on the phone with the other custodians, on the calls with the attorney, and ready to walk you through institutions you have never had to deal with before. The pace is yours, not ours.
Yes. Our advisor leads next-generation conversations, and we do not enforce account minimums for adult children of existing clients. The most common topics are 401(k) allocation at a first job, 529 strategy, mortgage and lease-versus-buy decisions, and the basic account architecture that pays off later.
Nothing changes about your relationship with the practice. About a quarter of our households are outside California already, primarily on the East Coast, with clients in twelve other states. Out-of-state reviews run by Teams video; the day-to-day work is the same.
