Investment Management

A portfolio to support the plan, not be the plan

Service Overview

Most clients reach this practice because they want one place that handles their wealth. Investments are part of our work, but they’re not the entire conversation. Your portfolio’s job is to support your household. We construct it accordingly.

Our clients understand that their investments are diversified and know how their portfolio is performing. They trust the work to be done with the same care we apply to our own money.

Who This Is For

People who want their investments handled

We typically work with pre-retirees and retirees who have decided to delegate the management of their portfolio. Most households arrived through a referral, and most have stayed for decades.

If we plan retirement income, the portfolio is the source of the paycheck. If we run a Roth conversion, the portfolio is what gets repositioned. If we settle an estate, the portfolio is what gets retitled. This service is the foundation under every other service we offer.

Frequently asked

We build diversified portfolios designed with low turnover and a focus on the after-tax result. The models split roughly evenly between active and passive, lean on ETFs in taxable accounts, use mutual funds where they fit (often inside retirement accounts), and typically include a basket of five to ten individual stocks alongside the discretionary models. Direct indexing is used where it helps improve the household’s overall tax picture.

For most households, yes. The advisory accounts are managed on a discretionary basis, which means the practice makes the trades inside the parameters of the agreed allocation rather than calling for permission on each one. Most clients prefer it that way; they want big-picture conversations about family and retirement, not approval queues for individual trades.

About a million dollars in investable assets for new household relationships. The minimum does not apply to the adult children of existing clients, who are served at any account size. The intentional cap on household count, about 100 families, is the more meaningful constraint than the dollar figure.

At National Financial Services LLC (NFS), a Fidelity company, our custodian.* Statements, online access, and tax documents come from NFS. The practice manages the work and answers the phone; the assets sit with the custodian.

*Fidelity Investments (Fidelity) through its broker-dealer National Financial Services LLC (NFS) is our primary custodian where your assets are held for safekeeping.

Once a year in person at the office, or by Teams video for clients out of state, plus the phone calls in between when life changes. The annual review is the formal one. Most of the actual work happens in the calls between reviews, when something has shifted in the household and the portfolio needs to respond.
